Today our Creative Director, Jenee Oxley-Echard, is celebrating 5 years with JDM.   It’s been a wild ride and we’re proud she’s still here and kicking ass.

I Founded JDM at the very end of 2006.   Not 3 months later I realized the only way to grow the company was to hire people smarter and more talented than myself.

After posting openings on every job site I could find, a colleague recommended an inexperienced designer working for a real-estate company.   Not ideal, but I figured it couldn’t hurt and called her in for an interview.

Her design portfolio was her sketchbook.   Her technical experience was almost nothing.  Her ambition, however, was contagious.   I had a drink, a long think and hired her the next day.

Over the last 5 years, Jenee has grown into our most valuable employee overseeing all creative design projects and team members.  She is charged as “Defender of the JDM Brand.”  She has also become as well versed in PHP and database driven web application as in color theories and the nuances of font choices.  See her twitter feed for examples of what I mean.

Today she surprised me with a little card she designed and printed out (a copy of it is the featured image at the top).   The card reads:

5 Years and Counting . . .
July 11, 2012 marks my 5 year anniversary with JDM.  It’s been worlds of fun and full of great learning experiences.  Thanks for taking a chance on me.

No, Jenee.  Thanks for taking a chance on us. ;)
