One of the first steps when working with WordPress is logging into the WordPress admin. First, you’ll need to pull up your WordPress admin URL and use your username and password to login.
Let’s say your website was, mywebsite.com. Simply add “/wp-admin/” to the end and open it up in a browser (IOW, http://mywebsite.com/wp-admin/). You’ll see a login screen a bit like the one above.
If your WordPress site was installed in a subdirectory (or subdomain) your login URL would be a little different.
For example, if your WordPress website is installed at, http://yoursite.com/blog/, your admin URL would be http://yoursite.com/blog/wp-admin/.
Doesn’t Work?
Once in a blue moon, your hosting environment could be miss-configured. If you login and it just redirects you back to the login, try using:
http://yoursite.com/wp-login.php.
Locked Out?
If you forget your password, you can click on “Lost your password?” to retrieve it. If you have no idea at all how to login to your own WordPress website, here’s how to break in.
