I just heard about this romantic story of a digital agency romance on Ad Age and we just had to share on such a rainy Friday afternoon in Dallas.

In late April, Erica Plotkin, a digital associate media director at the Martin Agency, heard from her team that something was happening with their client’s banner ads on BBC.com, and needed to check it out right away.  As soon as the page loaded, she noticed the ads weren’t her client’s but rather a synched takeover from her boyfriend, ad salesman Scott Sklar, asking her to marry him.

Given they’re both in the digital ad business, Scott had plotted to pop the question this way and enlisted friend and BBC account exec for Martin Agency, Kendra Kuehnle, to help orchestrate the page takeover. At first, Erica thought the ads were just a prank, but before she could get upset, in walked Scott, wearing a tux and bearing a bouquet of roses, followed by two violinists.

He got down on one knee and reiterated the banners’ inquiry, to which Erica replied “yes.”

Not one but two boozy parties were planned immediately afterward, with Erica’s coworkers at Martin, and with some mutual friends who work at Universal McCann.

This is the ad world after all.
