JDM’s website (or websites, really) use avatars to generate those cool badges in comments, but we’re not the only one’s who use them. In fact, we use something called Gravatars (a combination of ‘Avatar’ and Global’) that means you only have to setup your avatar once (on the Gravatar site) and it will work on any website that uses that API.

[tooltip content=’Gravatar is a combination of Avatar and Global.’ url=’http://labs.jdm-digital.com/2011/02/gravatars/’ ]Your Gravatar[/tooltip] is an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog. Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums, so why not on any site? That’s the mission for Gravatar. Setup is fast, easy and free. Best of all, it allows your posts to draw a little more attention than that placeholder no designer spends any real time designing… ;)

Get the technical stuff from the Codex and sign up for your own Gravatar on: http://en.gravatar.com.
