The Legacy of Melvin DuBois
Let’s take a break from marketing and nerdy developer-speak. A very close friend of ours recently lost her best friend, Melvin Dubois, to Leukemia. Let me tell you a little about the organization Melvin founded before his passing and we encourage you to make a donation–even if it’s just $25 bucks.
Melvin was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia in 2009. In need of a life-saving transplant, ‘Be The Match‘ helped Melvin and his family find a marrow donor and he received his first bone marrow transplant in 2010. When he relapsed in 2011, ‘Be The Match’ helped find a second donor to give him another chance at life. That did not stop him from living life to the fullest. Before his second transplant, Melvin married the love of his life, Catherine DuBois. Even after the second relapse in 2012, Melvin still pursued his dream of surfing and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Although his life ended far too soon on November 16, 2013, we are reminded that it is not the quantity of years we have to live but the quality of the years we live that matters. His dream was to pay it forward and now is our chance to make his dream his legacy.
They have already raised $2,500 or so. Make your donation online by clicking “Make a Gift” or tell us your story in comments below to put “The Ripple Effect” into action.
